Utilizing Proper Meditation Techniques

Healing Through Meditation

Namaste and welcome.
I’m Dr. Suparna, a Kundalini yoga instructor and proud advocate for mental health awareness through my platform with Miss Tourism USA Universe. Today, I want to speak from the heart about meditation, a practice that has been both a lifeline and a lighthouse on my journey—especially as a recent survivor of human trafficking.

Every morning, I turn to meditation. It’s how I reconnect with myself, clear emotional clutter, and stay rooted amid life’s inevitable turbulence. In the words of Krishna, “When two bangles are on the same wrist, they will inevitably clash and make noise.” This ancient wisdom reminds us that where there is human interaction, there is friction. Meditation helps me quiet the noise and return to peace.

At its core, meditation is not just about sitting still—it’s about emptying the mind, like rebooting a computer or refreshing a smartphone. When we clear the mental cache, we create space for higher insight, creativity, and healing to flow through us.

In the beginning, I wasn’t sure what meditation should feel like. I’d sit with my eyes closed, unsure if I was doing it “right.” My breakthrough came when I discovered the MUSE brainwave-sensing headband, which uses EEG technology to monitor real-time brain activity. With it, I learned that true meditation happens not in the busy alpha or beta waves—which we use for daily tasks—but in the deeper theta and delta waves, the brain states of calm, creativity, and connection.

Meditation, like fitness, is a daily practice. We don’t build muscle without showing up at the gym—likewise, we don’t build mental strength without showing up for our minds. And just like a relationship, meditation only flourishes with consistent, honest effort. You can’t fake it—if you cheat, it won’t work. But when you stay devoted, the transformation is profound.

Over time, my practice has opened up new dimensions of awareness.

  • First came clairsentience—the ability to feel what others feel, often called being an empath.
  • Then clairaudience, receiving inner guidance through sound and messages.
  • Next, clairvoyance, receiving intuitive visions and downloads I expressed through art.
  • And finally, claircognizance, the gift of simply knowing—tuning into truths without needing explanation.

I share this not to impress you, but to inspire you. If I can reach this level of awareness after walking through deep trauma, so can you.
Meditation was the bridge from my darkest days to my brightest light.

To those just beginning or finding your way along this spiritual path: be patient, stay curious, and know you are not alone. If you have questions, I’m here. Please reach out—I didn’t have much guidance on my journey, and it often left me confused and lost. My mission now is to help ease that path for others.

With love and light,
Dr. Suparna 🌿

How can you tell if you were really meditating?

Welcome to Yoga N Chill Yoga Studio

There are also many types of meditation including passively sitting and focusing the mind, to moving meditation involving activities such as yoga, hiking, and swimming, and there are countless forms of natural meditation involving everyday activities such as cooking, washing dishes, and even brushing your teeth for some people.  Interestingly, studies have shown that when engaging in a water activity such as swimming and your head is submerged under water, your brain waves actually change from the beta waves of being awake, alert, and focused (12-30 Hz) to alpha waves (8-12 Hz) that are produced when you are awake but relaxed, such as when you are daydreaming or meditating.  Studies show that alpha activity contributes to a reduction in stress, anxiety, pain, and discomfort.  Theta waves (3-8 Hz) are produced by your brain during deep meditation and extreme relaxation.   In general, when all your senses are consciously engaged and you are completely in the moment, there is a spiritual enlightenment that comes about in the individual that serves to eliminate suffering.

A Perspective on Healing through Emotional Trauma

Healing Is Revealing

True healing isn’t about becoming something new — it’s about uncovering the wholeness that has always lived within us. Meditation gently replaces our assumptions with truth, revealing the harmony beneath our wounds, doubts, and stories.

To heal is to become whole — not only within ourselves, but in how we experience life.

Meditation is an act of surrender to the life force flowing through all things. It invites us into the present moment, where clarity lives and where transformation begins. Through this practice, we become aware of our innate ability to heal, not from force, but from alignment.

As we sit in stillness, our beliefs begin to soften, evolve, and realign with who we truly are. Meditation also shines light on how we respond to the world — how we love, how we react, how we show up.

Healing requires tuning and re-tuning ourselves to our deepest truths:
our intentions, our core values, and our personal relationship with the Divine — whether we name it God, the Universe, or Spirit.

In stillness, we don’t escape life.
We learn how to live it whole.

Meditation: A Return to Wholeness

Meditation gives us the gift of perspective. When we’re caught in a narrow field of vision, even small challenges can feel overwhelming. We attach emotion, fear, and frustration to our experiences, and our hearts carry the weight.

Through meditation, we gently widen that lens.

We create enough space to observe without reacting — to see our struggles not as devastation, but as passing moments that do not define us. In that space, emotions begin to soften, clarity returns, and the mind is no longer ruled by urgency or pain.

Healing is the natural outcome of clear awareness.

When our thoughts become balanced and our inner compass is calm, our consciousness knows how to respond with wisdom. Meditation becomes sacred time — a protected moment when the mind, body, and soul reunite and remember their harmony.

In stillness, we don’t escape life.
We rediscover wholeness within it.

Yoga for Athletes

When we turn away from the present we often compare ourselves to others and we sometimes feel insecure and unworthy.  When you can stop that thinking and follow the magnetism of the present moment, you allow yourself to begin the process of healing.  Meditate so that you don't push happiness off to an ideal future. The future holds no more certainty of happiness than does this very day.  Because this very day, in this very moment, is when happiness is not only possible, but real, and the minute you need something is the perfect time to use it.  Meditate to change your perspective.  When we focus on problems we create more problems for ourselves.  When we focus on possibilities we have more opportunities.  Heal through meditation by centering yourself and by finding that place of peace, power, love, beauty, light, wisdom, and purity within you that only exists when we are completely engaged in the present moment.

Brain Scans Show Kundalini Activations

Yoga and Meditation are a form of Spiritual Technology!

Modern science can now measure the magnetic field exerted by our chakras. Consistent research findings show us that a coherent and intensely activated Heart Chakra Temple tends to produce an external magnetic field that’s up to 3 meters wide. According to Dr. Joe Dispenza and UCSD researchers, “Now you’ve got a WIFI signal. When you have a coherent brain, the brain can actually lay the information on that signal and a desired thought of your wealth or health can be carried on the frequency of that heart emotion”. This means that what we send out over our personal WIFI network is then reflected back to us in physical form courtesy of the Universe. This is because In the quantum field, thoughts tend to have an electrical charge. This charge is the directive that sends the signal out. The heart generates a strong magnetic field and draws back to us an experience that equals the energetic frequency we put out. Where we place our attention is where we place our energy.

Learn More about Kundalini

Dr. Dispenza focuses his research on techniques employed in the practice of Kundalini Yoga.

Kundalini yoga is thousands of years old and the tools employed are asanas, pranayama, mantra, and mudra. People can expect to feel tingling sensations of the skin, paresthesias, and vivid dreams and visions during the practice. Kundalini is specifically designed to awaken our psychic centers and to heighten our level of sensitivity.
